…COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM EDT SUNDAY…

The National Weather Service in Baltimore MD/Washington has
issued a Coastal Flood Advisory, which is in effect until 9 AM
EDT Sunday.

* LOCATIONS…Shoreline in the District of Columbia and
Arlington County and the city of Alexandria.

* TIDAL DEPARTURE…1 to 2 feet above normal

* TIMING…Around the time of high tide. High tide at Washington
Channel is at 5:36 PM late this afternoon and again at 6:00 AM
early Sunday morning. High tide at Alexandria is at 5:54 PM late
this afternoon and again at 6:18 AM early Sunday morning.

* IMPACTS…Shoreline inundation is expected along portions of
the seawall adjacent to Ohio Drive and the Hains Point Loop Road
and near the Tidal Basin. Water is expected to approach the
curb near the intersection of King Street and Strand Street in
Alexandria. Minor shoreline inundation up to one foot above
ground is possible elsewhere.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Coastal Flood Advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.

* Until Sunday afternoon.
* At 3 PM Saturday the stage was 20.0 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Recent activity…The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at
3 PM Saturday was 21.2 feet.
* Forecast…The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
late tomorrow morning .
* Impact…At 20.0 feet…A few homes south of Remington are flooded
along with adjacent roads.
* Flood history…This crest compares to a previous crest of 19.4 feet
on May 17 2014.

…A TORNADO WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 515 PM EDT FOR CENTRAL
FAUQUIER AND NORTH CENTRAL CULPEPER COUNTIES…

At 504 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 8 miles southwest of Warrenton, moving east at 20 mph.

HAZARD…Tornado.

SOURCE…Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT…For those in the direct path of a tornado touchdown, flying
debris will be dangerous to those caught without shelter.
Damage to roofs, siding, and windows may occur. Mobile
homes may be damaged or destroyed. Tree damage is likely.

This dangerous storm will be near…
Warrenton and Bealeton around 515 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include
Turnbull, Opal, Jeffersonton, Airlie and Orlean.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter

* Recent activity…The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at
1 PM Saturday was 17.2 feet.
* Forecast…The river will continue rising to near 17.8 feet by
early this evening. The river will fall below flood stage early
tomorrow afternoon.
* Impact…At 16.0 feet…Water begins to cover River Road upstream
of the city of Fredericksburg. Structures near the Motts Run boat
landing are flooded.

* Flood stage is 13.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Recent activity…The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at
1 PM Saturday was 23.5 feet.
* Forecast…The river will continue to rise and reach Major flooding by
mid Saturday afternoon before cresting early Saturday evening and then
falling below Moderate stage late Saturday night and will continue
to below flood stage by early Sunday afternoon.
* Impact…At 26.0 feet…Water reaches several buildings in the City of
Fredericksburg along with multiple parking lots. The Fredericksburg City
Dock is under nearly 15 feet of water.
