HOWARD CO. – A 33-year-old woman is seriously hurt after being involved in a 3-vehicle collision in Laurel Tuesday.

Police say the crash happened in the 9400 block of Washington Boulevard around 4:35 p.m.

The investigation shows 33-year-old Patricia Johnston drove her 2006 Toyota Corolla off the right side of the roadway on Washington Boulevard southbound into the northbound lanes. Johnston crashed the Toyota into a 2001 Honda Civic and 2006 GMC Yukon.

Johnston was taken to a shock trauma center where she is now in critical condition, officials say.

The driver of the Honda was identified by police as 35-year-old Santos Perez, of Columbia, and was not hurt in the crash. His passenger, 34-year-old Dora De Solis, was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say the driver of the GMC, Juan Carlos Equizabal, 45, of Jessup, was not injured.

Investigators do not know why Johnston crossed lanes at this time.

Police continue to investigate.
