Vehicle runs red light, fatally strikes 64-year-old cyclist

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 64-year-old man is dead after getting struck by a vehicle in D.C. while on his bicycle.

The crash happened in the 1200 block of Constitution Avenue, Northwest around 7:30 a.m.

Police say Thomas Hollowell was on his bike when a sedan ran a red light at a high rate of speed and hit him. Then, the vehicle kept driving northbound on 12th street without stopping.

Investigators say Hollowell was travelling in a crosswalk when the collision happened.
