LOUDOUN CO. – A town in Loudoun County has temporarily changed its name to “Capitalsville” just days after the hockey team defeated the Lightning to move on to play in the championship.

Team spirit has been brought to the small town of Lovettsville as they celebrate the Capitals advancing to the Stanley Cup for the first time in 20 years.

The city council unanimously voted on the name change Thursday night.

Mayor Robert Zoldos said the name change will last through the play-offs.

“During the finals there is no better place to watch the Caps, except maybe Capital One Arena, than right here in Capitalsville,” said Mayor Zoldos.

The first game of the series will take place Monday in Las Vegas as the Caps face The Vegas Golden Knights.
