UPDATE: Third arrest made in murder of woman found in burning car in DC

WASHINGTON, DC — Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announce a third arrest has been made in a fatal shooting that occurred in the 800 block of Adrian Street, Southeast, on Thursday, December 28, 2017.

At approximately 7:21 pm, members of the Sixth District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers located a vehicle on fire.  Once the fire was extinguished, an unconscious and unresponsive adult female was discovered inside of the vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.  DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and determined there were no signs consistent with life.  The decedent remained on the scene until transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

The decedent has been identified as 23-year-old Kerrice Lewis, of Hyattsville, Maryland

On Tuesday, August 28, 2018, MPD arrested 20-year-old Malique Lewis, of Southeast, DC, from Prince George’s County Jail to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed.

On Saturday, February 10, 2018, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested an adult male of Northeast, DC, and charged him with First Degree Murder While Armed.

On Wednesday, August 22, 2018, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, members of the Major Violators Section, Fugitive Unit, transported 22-year-old Marcel Vines, of Southeast, DC, from DC Jail to the Homicide Branch where he was charged with First Degree Murder While Armed.


WASHINGTON, D.C. – Police arrested a man for the murder of a 23-year-old woman whose body was found in a burning car in December 2017, officials say.

Police responded to the 800 block of Adrian Street, Southeast around 7:21 p.m. and say they found a vehicle on fire. Once the fire was extinguished, authorities say an unconscious and unresponsive woman was discovered inside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and medics responded to the scene and determined there were no signs of life.

Police have identified the victim as 23-year-old Kerrice Lewis of Hyattsville, Maryland.

Police say they arrested 23-year-old Ashton Briscoe of Northeast, D.C. Saturday and charged him with first degree murder while armed.

The case remains under investigation.
