ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The suspicious death of an 82-year-old man has been ruled a homicide.

Police say an autopsy conducted on Tuesday morning ruled the manner of death a homicide. This marks the third homicide in Alexandria this year.

Alexandria Police will continue to investigate.

Police are investigating a suspicious death of an elderly man.

Emergency crew were called to the 100 block of E. Reed Avenue around 7:15 a.m. Monday for a medical call for service.

Upon arrival, police say officers found 82-year-old Jerry Scott, of Alexandria, inside his home with trauma to the upper body. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 703-746-6858.
