UMD student arrested for threatening to shoot campus police released

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Police say a University of Maryland student who was arrested Sunday for threatening to shoot campus police has now been released.

21-year-old Ryan Sulkowski was arrested Sunday after concerned students told police Sulkowski made statements that he was applying for firearms, waiting for a background check, and had plans to shoot campus police officers.

Police arrested Sulkowski and charged him with threat of mass violence and disrupting school operations.

However, police say Sulkowski was released Monday after finding no credible threat.
