Third victim located in Silver Spring apartment fire

SILVER SPRING, MD – The Montgomery County Police Department announced that a third victim was found within the Silver Spring apartment building that caught fire late Wednesday night.

Police are continuing their death investigation following a fatal fire that occurred in the 8700 block of Arliss Street in Silver Spring, Maryland. The bodies of two victims were found on Thursday. Officials are now confirming that the body of a third victim has been found within the apartment building on Friday afternoon.

Investigators have not yet identified the three victims. Their remains have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy and identification.

According to officials, the joint investigation between the Montgomery County Police Department, the Department of Fire and Rescue Service, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives is ongoing, as is the investigation into the cause or causes of this fire. Search and recovery efforts will resume Saturday morning.
