WASHINGTON, D.C. – Shutting down a city to host a once-in-a-lifetime event comes with a price tag.

After the Washington Capitals took home the Stanley Cup for the first time in franchise history, hundreds of thousands of fans came to the District to scream, cheer, and celebrate during the Stanley Cup Parade Tuesday.

Shutting down roads and having police, emergency crews, and clean-up crews at the event could have cost D.C. up to $400,000.

Events DC has their preliminary estimate between $380,000 and $400,000.
