UPDATED: Security guard shot to death in car

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. — An on-duty Special Police Officer was fatally shot while driving back to his job site late Thursday.

Evan Williams, 29, was found by police in his car suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The Metropolitan Police Department believe he was not the intended target. They also located another adult male suffering from a gunshot wound, this one non-fatal.  Investigators have determined they were shot in the same incident.

The MPD is offering a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information that leads to an arrest in this case. Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call 202-727-9099, or anonymous information can be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
