Second suspect on the loose after shooting near University of Maryland

PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — One suspect is behind bars and another remains on the lam after a shooting and robbery near the College Park Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, which sits adjacent to the University of Maryland.

On Sept. 6, a Marriott security officer was shot after the two suspects entered the hotel and stole three safes, which were later recovered nearby, along with a handgun. The officer was alive and is recovering from his injuries.

The next day, the University of Maryland Police Department arrested Jamal Ulysses Green, 24,  in connection with the robbery. He has been charged 13 offenses, including attempted first degree murder, armed robbery, and illegal possession of a regulated firearm.
