PRINCE WILLIAM CO. – Police are searching for a suspect in a sexual assault that happened at an apartment in the 12200 block of Stevenson Court in Woodbridge, Virginia Wednesday.

Investigators say a woman entered an apartment building just after 6 a.m. Inside, she encountered an unknown man in the stairwell with a gun. Then the man attempted to sexually assault the woman.

At one point, police say the man forced the woman outside to the back of the apartment where he sexually assaulted her. Investigators determined the woman was raped.

Then, the man told the victim to walk into a wooded area as he fled the scene.

Shortly after, the woman told an acquaintance about the incident who then contacted police. Officers responded to the building around 7:10 a.m. A K-9 searched for the suspect, but he was not located.

Police are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect.

They describe the suspect as a Black male, between 25-30 years of age, 5’10”, heavy build with a “beer belly”, short black afro, with a half sleeve tattoo containing writing and angel wings on his right arm. He was last seen wearing a white t-shirt and white with black “Jordan” tennis shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 703-792-6500.
