RUSSELL COUNTY, Va. — On New Year’s Day, a Norton man died after a collision on Route 19 with a driver who police have charged with DUI and aggravated manslaughter.

Thomas Estep, 21, died on the scene after a Silverado pick-up truck struck his Pontiac head-on in the early hours of New Year’s Day. Police say the driver of the truck, Dale Donnells, 41, was driving the wrong way on Route 19 when he struck Estep.

Donnells, who is from Prince George’s County, Maryland, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. He was then released into police custody and charged with DUI and manslaughter.

A crash reconstruction scene is still investigating the scene.
