MONTGOMERY CO. – A man accused of raping a woman at knifepoint in Rockville has been arrested.
Police say 27-year-old Terrance Zimmerman, of Gaithersburg, allegedly raped a woman behind a house in Rockville Saturday while holding a knife to her neck.
Zimmerman approached the victim outside the Rockville Metro station and started a conversation with her. Police say the two exchanged numbers and left the metro station together.
The woman and Zimmerman walked to the rear of a home on MacArthur Drive. That’s when police say Zimmerman took out a knife and placed it to the woman’s throat as he raped her.
The victim was able to run from the area once Zimmerman removed the knife.
Police say the woman told law enforcement on Monday.
Shortly after the rape, the victim received a phone call and text messages from Zimmerman, which she did not answer. Investigators were able to determine that the phone number from which the calls and texts were sent belonged to Zimmerman. Investigators also obtained video surveillance from the Metro which captured the suspect now identified as Zimmerman walking away from the metro with the victim.
Police say they arrested Zimmerman Wednesday at his home and charged him with first-degree rape.
