UPDATE: Police identify woman found in pond

UPDATE: The Fairfax County Police Department has released information regarding the identity of the woman found in Centreville, VA on May 16. The deceased woman has been identified as Masoumeh Kord, 43, of Fairfax. Police are currently working with the family to provide support.

At this time, while detectives of the Major Crimes Division continue their investigation into the body found in the 6200 block of Ridge Pond Road in Centreville, they do not suspect foul play. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

CENTREVILLE, VA – The Fairfax County Police Department is investigating a body found in the 6200 block of Ridge Pond Road in Centreville. Officers, as well as paramedics from Fairfax County Fire & Rescue, responded to a call that the body had been found in a pond located behind an apartment building.

Shortly after 3:00 p.m., members of the Fairfax County Police Department Underwater Search and Recovery Team pulled the body of an unidentified female from the pond.  Crime scene and homicide detectives have begun their investigation.  It is currently unknown how long the body had been in the water.
