HYATTSVILLE , MD – According to the Prince George’s County Police Department, one of their cruisers fatally struck a pedestrian early on Sunday morning. The incident took place on University Boulevard near Riggs Road.

Officials report that around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, a police cruiser from Prince George’s County hit a pedestrian who was walking on University Boulevard near Riggs Road. The officer immediately started to provide medical aid to the victim until medical personnel arrived. However, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk. No further details are available at this time.
