WASHINGTON, DC — District officers are investigating a murder that happened Monday night.

Detectives say they got a call for a shooting around 8:40 p.m. on the 4300 block of Benning Road, Northeast. When officers arrived they found an 18-year-old suffering from a gunshot wound. Ayana McAllister, of Upper Marlboro, was transported to a nearby hospital where she was initially listed in critical condition before succumbing to her injuries on Tuesday.

Before McAllister was taken to the hospital, detectives say another woman suffering a gunshot wound, also sought treatment at an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. No word if both shootings are connected.

Metro Police is offering a $25,000 reward for anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible in the homicide. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099.
