GREENBELT, Md. – A Greenbelt police officer was dedicated to making sure a turtle crossed the road safely.

So she stood outside in the pouring rain while the snapping turtle made its way across the road.

Greenbelt Police Chief says a good Samaritan joined the officer with an umbrella to shelter the officer and turtle.

As it turns out, the officer who assisted the turtle was Greenbelt’s Police Officer of the Year in 2017.
