ALEXANDRIA, Va. - Police say they are now investigating a suspicious death in Old Town as a homicide.

According to Alexandria Police, officers were called to the 1200 block of King Street, a busy area right near popular shops and restaurants, around 11:49 a.m.

Officers were dispatched to a call about a suspicious death. Upon arriving, police say they found a man inside a business who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A 34-year-old man has been charged with Murder and is being held without bond in the Alexandria Detention Center.

A neighboring business owner says he went to check on the sole employee of the Window Universe office and found him inside.

DCW50 reached out to the company, which has offices across the country. They said they would not comment.

More information regarding the identity of the victim and the suspect will be released pending notification of the next of kin, police say.

This investigation is ongoing.

The owner of the Japanese restaurant, Nasime, below the Window Universe office, says his landlord told him that a package he had delivered to the restaurant was involved in the murder.

Police have not confirmed that detail.

"I ordered several items so I don’t know which was delivered but nothing valuable," said Yuh Shimonura, owner of Nasime. "Detergent or a paper roll for the printer, or something like that, nothing valuable."

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Detective Loren King at 703.746.6689.

This is the second homicide in Alexandria this year.
