PRINCE GEORGE’S CO. – One man was found dead in a hotel fire in Capitol Heights Thursday, officials say.

Officials say the fire started around 6:15 a.m. at the La Quinta Inns & Suites on Hampton Park Boulevard.

The fire department was alerted by an alarm company and 911 calls reporting smoke on the top floor of the 6-story hotel.

Firefighters made their way into the room of the fire, extinguished it, and found the body of 36-year-old Aaron Knox, of Bowie, Maryland, officials say.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and officials estimate damages at $5,000.

The investigation is ongoing.
