FREDERICK COUNTY, Md. — A man and a woman are dead after police say a suspect, now in custody, “backed up over [them]” with a car.

Shondre Naylor, 37, and Jermaine Hill Jr., 19, were found in a roadway of Acacia Court suffering from serious injuries around 5:10 this morning. EMS gave emergency care, but they were pronounced dead at the scene. The suspect, Delajhi Joyner, 24, was arrested nearby, and charged with two counts of first degree murder.

Police say that Joyner, Hill and Naylor arrived together at Acadia Court around 4:30 a.m. for reasons still unknown, in a Chevy Malibu. Witnesses reportedly believe they saw Joyner physically assault both Naylor and Hill, then get into the Chevy Malibu and back up over both of them, dragging them for a distance.

Police say Joyner, who they believe was staying at a residence on Acacia Court, then got out of the car and tried to flee. He was found soon after.

Initial examinations of the victims show that Hill may also have suffered puncture wounds. A knife blade was recovered at the scene, in addition to the Chevy, which is registered to Naylor.

Investigators say they don’t yet know what the relationship between the victims and the suspect was.
