LOUDOUN CO. – A man who deputies say fired gunshots during a domestic altercation at One Loudoun Friday night has turned himself in.
The Sheriff’s Office says John H. Abel, 48, of Catlett, Va., is charged with domestic assault, brandishing a firearm, reckless discharge of a firearm and discharging a firearm in a public place.
The charges stem after an apparent domestic altercation after 9 p.m. on March 16, in the 20700 block of Easthampton Plaza in Ashburn. Officers responded to the area where, deputies say, the subject had discharged several gunshots into the air following an altercation with a known female. Authorities say he threatened to harm himself, but the gun was wrestled from his possession by the woman.
Officials say the subject then fled the area on foot. The firearm was recovered at the scene and no injuries were reported.
