Leesburg man arrested after Clarion Inn shooting on New Year’s Day

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. — A Leesburg man is in custody after police say he shot and wounded another man at a Clarion Inn Hotel in Leesburg early in the morning on New Year’s Day.

The shooting took place at 1500 East Market Street around 5 a.m. Sunday morning. The Leesburg Police Department worked with the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office, the Fairfax County Police helicopter unit, and state troopers to identify the suspect as Justin Robin, 23.

The victim was a 33-year-old man from Springfield who is in stable condition and recovering at a local hospital.

Police have not identified a motive for the shooting, but they say it does not appear gang related.
