ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Maryland Governor Larry Hogan is the latest official to weigh in after Senator John McCain announced he would discontinue medical treatment for brain cancer.

“The First Lady and I are praying for my friend Senator John McCain and his family at this difficult time,” said Hogan in a statement.

Calling McCain the “consummate man in the arena,” Hogan said that the Senator is one of the nation’s greatest examples of valuing service above self and always putting the country first.

Hogan said he is honored to know McCain.

“His service has forever changed our country for the better,” said Hogan.
