PRINCE WILLIAM CO. – A man wanted by police on 11 active warrants was shot and killed by an Immigration & Customs Enforcement officer in Prince William County Friday, police say.
Mario Dantoni Bass, 37, of Woodbridge, has been wanted by police since September 2015 on various warrants including grand larceny auto, identity theft, and different traffic violations, according to Prince William County police.
Most recently, police say Bass was sought for a domestic-related abduction that was reported February 15.
Bass was located Friday by the Task Force at a Days Inn in Dumfries where he was allegedly staying. Police say upon making contact, Bass broke through an upper floor window and fled. Bass ran into another officer at the rear of the hotel who shot him in the upper body during a physical altercation.
Prince William County police remain the lead agency investigating the shooting. Upon completion of the investigation, detectives will review the findings with the Commonwealth Attorney’s Office who then make a determination regarding criminal liability.
