Homeowner confirmed dead in Rockville house explosion

UPDATE: On March 19, the medical examiner identified the victim as Steven Martin Beck, age 61, the resident of the home. The medical examiner ruled the manner of Beck’s death to be suicide, and the cause of death a gunshot wound. A dog was found dead next to Beck. The dog’s cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. -- Fire officials announced Saturday that they had found human remains in a Rockville home which was leveled by an explosion on Friday.

The home was in foreclosure and was going to be auctioned off on the same day it exploded. The owner of the house was reported unaccounted for after the explosion, but officials aren't able to confirm if the remains found belonged to that man.

They also found the remains of a dog.
