Family displaced after house fire in Silver Spring

SILVER SPRING, Md. – Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services are investigating a fire that occurred overnight in Silver Spring, Maryland which displaced four people.

The fire started around 1:00 a.m. on Friday morning in the 16000 block of Sea Island Court. It was classified as a 2nd alarm fire and heavy fire was visible through the roof. Officials say that the occupants were alerted to the fire by their fire alarm and everybody was able to get out safely. No injuries were reported.

According to officials, a preliminary investigation revealed that the fire started in the second floor bedroom. At this time, fire officials do not know what caused the fire. However, they do report that the fire damages are over $300,000. The family of four have been displaced.
