FAIRFAX, CO — A former Fairfax County middle school teacher has been found guilty on four counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.

Timothy Threlkeld, of Manassas, was sentenced Friday to four years in prison and fined $10,000.

The investigation determined he had an inappropriate relationship with a 14-year-old girl while employed as a shop teacher at Langston Hughes Middle School.  In June of 2014, a relative of the victim reported a suspicious relationship between the teen and a school teacher.

At that time, there was insufficient information to place criminal charges. In 2017, additional information indicated Threlkeld had a physical relationship with the girl. Threlkeld was arrested and charged in November with four counts of taking indecent liberties with a child.

Threlkeld resigned his position with FCPS effective June 30, 2015.
