PRINCE WILLIAM CO. – An intoxicated man with a machete is accused of chasing a man who was carrying a 3-year-old girl in Manassas Monday.

Police say officers responded to the 10100 block of Cannon Ball Court just before 8 p.m. to investigate the situation.

The investigation shows a 38-year-old man was confronted by Edgar Medina Ayala, 46, of Manassas. Police say Ayala began to yell and threaten the man.

Then, police say Ayala pulled out a machete from his vehicle and chased after the man, who was holding a 3-year-old girl in his arms at the time.

Police say Ayala chased the man into his home. The man was able to lock his door, and then Ayala left the area.

Shortly after, police say Ayala returned to threaten the man until he eventually left for the second time.

Officers were able to locate and arrest Ayala a short time after as he was drinking at a restaurant in the 8600 block of Liberia Avenue.

Ayala is charged with brandishing a machete, assault and battery, and public intoxication. He is being held without bond.
