PRINCE GEORGE’S COUNTY, Md. — A somber group gathered today at a Prince George’s Fire Department building to memorialize two fallen firefighters whose names were added to a memorial stone this year.

The Prince George’s Fire Department LODD Memorial Stone honors deceased firefighters. Although LODD refers to “line of duty deaths”, the memorial stone is not exclusive to firefighters who died this way.

The names added today were Christopher Hill and John “Skillet” Ulmschneider. Ulmschneider was shot and killed this April, at the scene of an emergency he was responding to. Hill died in July, after a battle with cancer.

Their wives were both present at the service.
