Death investigation underway near Charles Co. school

CHARLES CO. – Police are investigating a death in a wooded area near a Charles County school Friday.

The sheriff’s office says officers responded to the 2000 block of St. Thomas Drive in Waldorf near Benjamin Stoddert Middle School for the report of a man who appeared to be unconscious.

When they arrived, officers determined the man was dead.

Detectives are working to identify the man and he will be taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
