CARROLL CO. - Officials say progress has been made as they work to excavate the Cascade Lake Dam in Carroll County, Maryland.
Heavy rains caused the water levels to rise in the dam threatening nearby neighborhoods.
Now , officials say the dam's water level has been lowered significantly but workers will continue through tomorrow.
At this time, crews say there is still a possibility the dam will fail while the repairs are being made.
They also say that those who live downstream from the dam could see increased water levels in their area while excavations continue.
Snydersburg Road also remains closed until further notice.
