21-year-old man dies after driving into tree

HOWARD CO. – A 21-year-old man is dead after driving into a tree causing his vehicle to catch fire Sunday morning, police say.

Police say they are investigating the fatal single-vehicle collision in Ellicott City that occured around 3:25 a.m.

Saif Bryant of Columbia was driving a 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix northbound on Centennial Lane near Burnside Drive when he left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck a tree, police say. The vehicle then caught on fire.

Bryant was the sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene, police say.

Police are continuing to investigate the cause of the collision.
