15-year-old boy dies in scooter crash

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 15-year-old boy is dead and another person is in critical condition after a vehicle collided with a scooter in D.C. Tuesday.

Dominique Lewis, of Southeast, D.C., was driving a scooter in the 3200 block of 15th Place, SE around 10:45 p.m. when the scooter collided with a vehicle, police say.

Lewis and another passenger were ejected from the scooter and landed on the pavement.

A U.S. Park Police helicopter transported both victims to a hospital for treatment.

After all live-saving efforts failed, police say Lewis was pronounced dead.

The passenger of the scooter is in critical condition.
