WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Metro’s Art in Transit Program had local artists from the DMV audition for their MetroPerforms! and Music on the Mall programs on Friday, June 24. This weekend’s opening act features one of those performers.
The auditions, held at Metro Headquarters in Northwest D.C., offered performers the chance to participate in programs that will allow them to share their art with the city. The MetroPerforms! will allow artists and musicians to perform in front of Metro station entrances on a volunteer basis. The Music on the Mall program is a summer long program created by Metro along with the Office of Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton, the National Park Service, and the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities. It will bring live performances to the lawn of the National Mall on Thursdays during 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.
This weekend’s opening act comes from those auditions. Vicu Schek is a local D.C. musician, and a Bethesda, Maryland native. You can see his performance below.
