D.C. experiences record rainfall and high temperatures this fall

Hot summer temperatures lasted well into October, making this fall one of the warmest and wettest on record.

According to the National Weather Service, this October was the seventh warmest and ninth wettest.

The rainfall in D.C. this October was 196 percent of the average, in what is usually a dry month.  On Oct. 2, the city hit an all time high temperature for October at 98 degrees, beating the former record of 96 degrees set on Oct. 5, 1941.
