WASHINGTON, D.C. – You may want to slow down if you’re driving in D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser is proposing to increase speeding fines.

The proposal would increase a speeding ticket for driving more than 25 mph over the limit to $500.

Additional traffic violations are being reviewed by D.C. Council in the coming weeks.

These changes come as part of Bowser’s “Vision Zero” initiative to reduce traffic fatalities.
