FAIRFAX CO. – A driver was killed in a Fairfax County car crash Monday, as the remnants of Florence moved through the DMV.

Police said on Tuesday that the rainy weather could have played a role in the fatal collision.

The investigation shows a Honda Civic lost control on Rolling Road near Hunter Village Drive in Springfield around 2:30 p.m. The car crossed over the grassy median and crashed into a Kia Sportage.

Both drivers were taken to the hospital. Police say the driver of the Honda, 70-year-old Mina Fowler was pronounced dead.

The driver of the Kia, a 33-year-old Woodbridge man, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives believe speed played a factor in the crash as well.
