LOUDOUN CO. – A daycare director in Loudoun County was charged Wednesday with assaulting a child.

43-year-old Heather Whitfield, director of Heather’s Kids, LLC, assaulted a child that was enrolled at the Lovettsville daycare on August 24.

When the child received minor injuries to his lip and arm, his parents were initially told it was the result of an accident.

Deputies say further investigation shows Whitfield caused the boy’s injuries. She was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

The Department of Social Services is investigation the operation and licensing of the daycare.

Whitfield was released on unsecured bond.
