PRINCE GEORGE’S CO. – Police are investigating a non-contact shooting that involved an off-duty police officer Friday.

Investigators say a Baltimore City Police Officer saw a man break into his truck in the 5800 block of Silver Hill Road in District Heights.

The officer went to confront the suspect and the suspect fled.

That’s when, police say, the off-duty officer discharged a gun toward the suspect who was running away.

Police describe the suspect as an African-American male with long dreadlocks wearing a black t-shirt and black pants. His car was recovered nearby.

The officer was not hurt and the suspect was not shot.
