STAFFORD CO. – A man is now behind bars after, deputies say, he fired shots into a moving vehicle during a road rage incident in Stafford County Tuesday.

The incident happened near Route 1 and Corporate Drive around 5:50 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office.

The investigation shows Oscar Martinez, 24, became angry after observing another driver tailgating him. Deputies say Martinez then started to tailgate the victim’s vehicle after the victim passed Martinez.

At one point, the two vehicles ended up side by side. That’s when Martinez grabbed his gun and shot three rounds into the victim’s vehicle.

Martinez told deputies he saw a gun in the victim’s hand, but investigators report no evidence of his claim.

No one was injured in the shooting.

Following shots fired, both drivers pulled over and flagged down officers.

Martinez was arrested and charged with attempted aggravated malicious wounding, shooting from a moving vehicle, shooting at a moving vehicle, brandishing a firearm, reckless handling of a firearm, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office.
