SEAT PLEASANT, Md -  Homicide Unit detectives arrested and charged a second suspect in this fatal shooting. SEAT PLEASANT, Md. - Police say they have arrested a man in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old father.

Prince George's County Police announced on Friday morning that they arrested 27-year-old Franklin Scott, of the 500 block of 68th Avenue in Capitol Heights on Friday morning for the death of Lamont Adair Jr., 24.

Family members of Adair tell DCW50 they got the news just hours before his viewing Friday night.

"We're definitely pleased to hear of an arrest," Adair's sister told DCW50.

Back on August 8th, police say they were called to the 6600 block of Greig street around 3:50 p.m. for a shooting.

When they got to the scene, officers found Adair suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say through various investigative techniques, detectives developed Scott as a suspect.

The preliminary investigation reveals Scott was upset with Adair over a personal issue. Scott targeted Adair on the day of the fatal shooting. He is charged with first and second degree murder and is being held on a no-bond status.

Adair's mother and sister tell DCW50 he has an 11-month-old son and had plans to travel overseas to play basketball in the fall.

They say he played his entire life and was on his way to play when the shooting happened.

"You broke our family circle and we can't get that back, you left my grandson fatherless, we'll pick up the slack, but you left him fatherless," said Adair's mother.

Adair's sister says he had just attended a community basketball game over the weekend that was organized to promote non-violence and peace in the community.

"We will be suffering for a long time but I know that the answers will come and that we will find justice," she says. "If it takes us to lose our 24-year-old brother for changes to come in the community, we will be so relentless in making sure whoever did this is found."
