19-year-old in critical condition after shot by stray bullet

HOWARD CO. – A 19-year-old bystander is in critical condition after, police say, she was shot by a stray bullet in Laurel Sunday night.

Police say they are now searching for a group of suspects responsible for firing the gun shots that injured the woman.

The investigation shows the teen was walking from a parked car in the 9000 block of Canterbury Riding when she was hit by a stray bullet. She was taken to shock trauma and is in critical condition.

Officers responded to the scene just after 10 p.m. for the report of shots fired and located the injured victim.

Witnesses told police a group of young men were seen running from the area after shots were fired. The number of suspects are unconfirmed and police say they do not have suspect descriptions at this time.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police at 410-313-STOP. Police are offering a $1,500 reward for information.
