ARLINGTON, Va. – A Maryland man has been arrested for allegedly murdering an Arlington man inside his home back in March.

Police say they arrested 42-year-old Jitesh Patel, of Woodbine, Maryland, for fatally shooting a man he knew in the Ballston-Virginia Square neighborhood on March 16.

Officers responded to John Giandoni’s home for the report of a possible death.

Upon arrival, police say officers found Giandoni inside dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

During a four-month long investigation, police reviewed crime scene evidence and conducted multiple interviews. Police say they found additional information about Patel’s relationship to Giandoni and were able to identify Patel as the suspect.

Police arrested Patel Friday and charged him with murder, burglary while armed, and possession of a firearm while in the commission of a felony.
