Baltimore market closed after rat seen in bakery case

BALTIMORE, Md. – A historic Baltimore market is temporarily closed after a video of a rat in a bakery display case went viral.

Lexington Market said the entire market will be closed for an evaluation.

“We are proactively making this decision to expedite our work with the Health Department, our merchants, our staff, and our pest control company,” said Lexington Market on Facebook.

The video, which has over half a million views, shows a rat running across a platter of lemon snaps and cookies at Buttercup Bakery.

Officials say the market is working on being open Saturday.
