GAITHERSBURG, Md. – With some provisional ballots yet to count Marc Elrich maintains a 141-vote lead over David Blair in the unofficial results to the 2018 Gubernatorial Primary election updated Thursday night by the Montgomery County Board of Elections.

The winner of the contest will be the Democratic Party nominee for County Executive in November.

The pair lead a contest of six total Democrats with no one able to get more than 30 percent support from the 129,101 Democratic voters who participated in the election out of 380,483 registered Democrats in Montgomery County.

The Board of Elections anticipates spending another 1-3 days finalizing the provisional vote and also zeroing in on the final absentee ballots mailed before the deadline.

A spokeswoman said even though canvassing work may be wrapped up by Sunday don't expect the election to be certified by the Board of Elections until July 16.
