Fairfax Co. Public Schools employee charged with assault, threatening co-worker

FAIRFAX CO. – A Fairfax County Public Schools employee who was charged with threatening a co-worker Friday is now facing additional charges.

57-year-old Girard Thompson, of Oxon Hill, Maryland is a maintenance worker for FCPS. He was charged for making an oral threat to commit bodily harm to another school employee on June 29, police say.

The FCPS security told police about the threat from Thompson, and he was arrested that afternoon.

Police say they launched an investigation which resulted in two new charges against Thompson.

On Tuesday, police say they charged Thompson with an additional count of making a threat to another school worker and one count of assault.

Police say these charges stemmed from two separate incidents that happened in August and September of last year.

Thompson was assigned work at various school locations as needed, and FCPS has suspended him without pay.
