MONTGOMERY CO. – The American Red Cross is inviting the public to a community launch supporting their new campaign for the summer.

With hurricane season approaching, the Red Cross is emphasizing the need for blood donors.

Simply put, the Red Cross says not enough people are giving blood, and surveys show that misconceptions about donating blood may be contributing to a shrinking blood donor population.

This summer, the organization is calling for new blood donors and those who haven’t given in a while to help fill the gaps and ensure lifesaving blood remains available for patients.

The event will be held Thursday, June 28 at the American Red Cross Chapter Office at 2020 East West Highway, Silver Spring, Maryland; from 1:30 to 5 p.m.
