Washington DC - A groundbreaking ceremony in one of the hottest real estate community in the district capped off the end of what Mayor Muriel Bowser called "June Housing Bloom"; an initiative providing information on the progress of the partnership between the private and public sectors, providing resources for affordable housing.

The site located at 3rd street northwest in the Mount Vernon Square neighborhood was donated by Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Mayor Bowser has long supported the idea of faith based communities getting involved with issues concerning the public and this donation is on par with that idea. Thee mayor says,         " This meet one of my goals in working with faith communities. We have churches all over the city that have a lot of land that surrounds their sanctuary and this church decided to make some of that land available for free."

The project is scheduled to commence in July of this year and expected to be completed in February, 2020.
