Man killed in D.C. after being kidnapped, held for ransom

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Police say a kidnapping in Maryland ended deadly in D.C. even after the victim’s family sent money to save their loved one.

28-year-old Andre Simmons Junior was forced from his moped into a car in Bowie on Tuesday, police say.

Simmons’ family got a call demanding a $7 thousand ransom which they paid.

However, police say Simmons was still shot and killed on Atlantic Street, Southeast Wednesday morning.

Police arrested 25-year-old Darin Moore and charged him with kidnapping.

He is being held without bond.
